Traffic Advisory: Lane Shift with Temporary Bike Lane Merge on Nashville Avenue between South Rocheblave Street and McKenna Street
NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced that Department of Public Works (DPW) construction contractor, Murphy Pipeline Construction, LLC, will partially close the inner portion of the travel lane on Nashville Avenue (river bound and lake bound), between South Rocheblave Street and McKenna Street, to vehicular and pedestrian traffic beginning Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 7 a.m., until Friday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.
This closure will allow crews to perform roadway restoration as part of the $15.9 million Marlyville Fontainebleau Group H Project. Public safety is our top priority; signage and traffic control measures, such as barricades and fencing, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians to the safest route of travel.
The $15.9 million Marlyville Fontainebleau Group H Infrastructure Improvement Project will include removing, replacing and repairing existing water, sewer and drainage lines, repaving the roadways, installing new sidewalks as necessary and installing American with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at all intersections. The project is currently scheduled to begin wrapping up in the winter of 2023.
Since May 2018, DPW has completed 158 projects with an estimated value of $581 million. Today, 51 roadwork projects are under construction with an estimated value of nearly $583 million.
