NOPD Announce Significant Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between April 18-24

NEW ORLEANS – Listed below are significant arrests or clearances through warrants or exception obtained between April 18-24, 2021 in investigations by the NOPD:

 

Shooting arrests

  • On April 24, 2021, NOPD Sixth District officers arrested Darran Boykins (black male, DOB: 11-13-1994) on two counts of attempted murder and one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The incident occurred on April 24 at the intersection of Jackson and Simon Bolivar avenues.
  • On April 24, 2021, NOPD Seventh District officers and NOPD Special Operations Division officers arrested Walter Jackson (black male, DOB: 10-21-1995) for second-degree aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred on April 24 in the 7400 block of Bullard Avenue.

 

Armed robbery arrests

  • On April 21, 2021, NOPD Sixth District officers arrested Nashawhan Thompson (black male, DOB: 12-11-1993) for armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The incident occurred on April 21 at the intersection of 3rd and South Galvez streets.
  • On April 18, 2021, NOPD Seventh District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Ira Williams (black male, DOB: 01-18-1991) for armed robbery, aggravated battery and theft of a firearm. The incident occurred on April 11 at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Downman Road. Anyone with information on Williams’ whereabouts is asked to call NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070 or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.

 

Other significant arrests

  • On April 22, NOPD officers and Louisiana Office of Probation and Parole officers arrested Quentrell Bertholotte (black male, DOB: 02-12-1992) on multiple narcotics and firearms charges. Bertholotte was identified as a subject who pointed a firearm at the scene of a shooting at the intersection of Marais and Gallier streets. Detectives located Bertholotte and arrested him for felon in possession of a firearm, as well as on outstanding warrants in the Seventh District and from Louisiana Probation and Parole. During a warranted search of Bertholotte’s home, officers discovered illegal narcotics, two firearms and an assortment of ammunition. Based on this discovery, Bertholotte was booked on additional charges. Investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing.   • On April 21, 2021, NOPD officers arrested two 16-year-old juvenile male subjects who were found in illegal possession of firearms in the 6000 block of Bullard Avenue. An NOPD lieutenant working an off-duty detail at the business reported seeing the subjects enter the business displaying mannerisms consisted with concealing firearms. The lieutenant requested backup, and officers detained the subjects and conducted pat-down searches. The searches revealed one subject to be concealing a rifle, while the other was in possession of a concealed handgun. The two subjects were each arrested and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for juvenile in possession of a firearm.
  • On April 24, 2021, NOPD Eighth District detectives arrested Derrick Hills (black male, DOB: 02-24-1998) on narcotics and illegal firearms charges involving three incidents on that day. Hills was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for illegal carrying of a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in an incident in the 300 block of Bourbon Street. Hills was also booked for aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in an incident in the 700 block of Saint Louis Street; and was also arrested on drug possession charges regarding a separate incident in the 1400 block of Tulane Avenue.
