April 2021

Hello Volunteers,

We have several exciting COVID volunteering opportunities coming up this weekend and next week. We continue to see great results from your hard work in helping get our community vaccinated:

  • Number of hours NOLA Ready volunteers & MRC volunteers have spent on COVID vaccine efforts: 8,780 volunteer hours
  • Percent of New Orleanians who have received at least their 1st COVID vaccine dose: 40.5% of Orleans Parish residents
  • Percent of eligible New Orleanians (16+) who have received at least their 1st COVID vaccine dose: 50.0% of Orleans Parish residents

THANK YOU! With your help, we continue to push forward in our efforts to help these folks complete their vaccine series, as well as spread the word to others about the benefits of getting vaccinated.

COVID Vaccine Outreach Opportunities

Join us in spreading the word: our first volunteer vaccine outreach opportunities are posted! This Sat, Apr 17, teams will be headed out to Algiers and Pigeontown/Leonidas to let community members know about upcoming vaccination events. Both of these neighborhoods are experiencing lower vaccine uptake, and we are hoping that your smiling faces can make all the difference! Join our volunteer coordinators on-the-ground and get the word out that vaccines are accessible, available, and important for New Orleans. Here's how to get involved:

  1. Take our VAC 200 training (once taken, you can view opportunities & sign up)
  2. Sign up on the Opportunities Page

Upcoming Busy Mass Vax Week

This weekend and next week, the mass vax site will have between 1,500-2,500 patients per day coming through the mass vax site at the Convention Center for their 2nd doses (in addition to 1st dose walkups/appointments) and volunteers are needed to help patients navigate the site. Please sign up on the Opportunities Page. Here are the dates where volunteers are needed, and you're able to sign up if you've taken the VAC 100 & HIP 100 trainings (FEMA ICS 100 no longer needed):

  • Sat, Apr 17
  • Sun, Apr 18
  • Mon, Apr 19
  • Tue, Apr 20
  • Wed, Apr 21
  • Thu, Apr 22

We have new shortened shifts each day, check them out here. We may be winding down volunteer support at the mass vax site soon, so if you haven't been out to volunteer yet please come out this week!

Hope to see you soon,

- The Team at NOLA Ready
