Good Morning Volunteers,
The NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps & MRC have been instrumental to fighting the coronavirus pandemic in New Orleans. Thank you again for all your efforts the past few months.
As of this morning, approximately 40% of New Orleanians have received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This is amazing progress, but vaccines haven't reached everyone yet. Vaccine uptake in New Orleans is uneven in part due to information about and access to COVID vaccines. Despite the best efforts of those involved in public health emergency response, some of the neighborhoods with the highest COVID-19 infection rates are the least vaccinated. The City and its community partners have been working to reach our most vulnerable residents for months, but now we are asking for your help: NOLA Ready volunteers can now train up to get involved with vaccine outreach. Vaccine outreach opportunities will vary, but can include tabling, canvassing, and assisting with mobile vaccination sites.
Below is our three-part outreach training curriculum. Many of you have already taken VAC 100 & HIP 100 (thank you!) so all you have to take now is VAC 200, our new volunteer outreach training. Click here to view the full training curriculum, including supplemental resources.
- Intro to Vaccine Outreach (VAC 200) - NEW!
- Intro to Vaccine Administration (VAC 100)
- HIPPA/Confidentiality Training (HIP 100)
Volunteers Needed
Lastly, although we're adding in volunteer opportunities related to COVID vaccine outreach and volunteer opportunities related to the upcoming 2021 hurricane season, that doesn't mean we are slowing down in running community vaccine sites and the mass vaccination site!
