March 2021

Hello NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps & MRC,

New volunteer sign ups are live on Better Impact! Sign up here. For next week in particular, we are looking to fill these volunteer shifts:

  • Tuesday, March 30: Supporting administering J&J to unhoused people in partnership with Covenant House. Licensed medical & non-medical support needed (8am-1pm).
  • Wednesday, March 31: Supporting the mass vaccination site in the morning (6:30am-12pm) and afternoon (11am-5pm).

Update on COVID vaccine eligibility: Per LDH, beginning on Monday, March 29, all adults are eligible to receive a COVID vaccine. This includes NOLA Ready & MRC volunteers! Therefore, we are eliminating our volunteer vaccination policy. We will no longer be coordinating vaccine appointments for those who have volunteered more than 10+ hours at a vaccine site. If you would like a COVID vaccine, please make your COVID vaccine appointment by finding a provider here. Appointments are also available at the mass vaccination site: visit lcmchealth.org/vaccine or call 504-290-5200.

Signing Up For Vaccine Site Shifts (refresher)

Shift visibility

Shifts are visible to volunteers who have completed all three trainings + the new NOLA Ready Orientation in the POD Training Curriculum.

If you have completed the orientation, VAC 100, HIP 100, and have uploaded the FEMA ICS certificate into your profile, and you are still not able to see shifts, please email volunteer@nola.gov and we can help problem solve.

Once you've trained up, check our Opportunities Page to see volunteer shifts and sign up for them. We recommend bookmarking the page and checking back periodically as our volunteer team adds more shifts in

Opportunities page:

https://app.betterimpact.com/Volunteer/Schedule/Opportunities

We’ve found that the default settings are better on the Opportunities page (the link listed above) rather than on the Opportunities calendar, or on the app. So if you’re having difficulty seeing shifts, try using the link above.
