Vaccine Site Update: Mass Vaccination Site

MaxVax

^ Take a virtual tour of the mass vaccination site run by LCMC in partnership with NOLA Ready. LCMC received thousands of doses of COVID vaccine to give out this week, and we're excited to see things ramping up!

feedback

^ Read some feedback from a patient who received their vaccine today. This great feedback is in large part thanks to the many folks who have volunteered to help patients navigate the process & feel welcomed. Thank you!

Vaccine Site Update: City Vaccine Sites

xavier vaccines

We continue to successfully run City vaccine sites. Last week we were at the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club, the week before we partnered with Musician's Clinic, and we're hosting vaccine sites at various rec centers. Every week we're in a new New Orleans neighborhood, bringing vaccine directly to different communities depending on the need. The above video is from one of our sites at Xavier University - and we'll be returning next weekend for second doses.

Vaccine Site Update: EMS Homebound Program

EMS Homebound

To ensure all eligible New Orleanians have access to the COVID vaccine, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services is bringing shots to residents who are homebound. MRC & NOLA Ready volunteers have been supporting this important work, working alongside EMS to bring vaccine directly to people's homes. If you or a loved one has a medical or mobility need preventing you from getting a vaccine elsewhere, please call 3-1-1 and indicate you are homebound to get on the list to receive this service.

This service does not apply to individuals who lack transportation. We encourage residents to take advantage of free shuttle service offered by Regional Transit Authority to the Convention Center mass vaccination site, and the free/reduced Uber rides to City sites and the mass vaccination site.

Expanded Eligibility Starts Today

essential workers

All essential workers are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and appointments are available at sites around the city, including appointments this week at the Convention Center!

Essential workers include people who work in food service, grocery stores, hotels, construction, banks, post offices, agriculture, and more. You can see all eligibility by visiting here: https://ldh.la.gov/index.cfm/page/4137

Thank You Volunteers!

Volunteers

This year to date, 529 volunteers have spent 5,388 hours volunteering at vaccine sites and scheduling patient appointments. We are so appreciative of this incredible team of MRC & NOLA Ready volunteers. We're a long way from finished, but we're so proud of this work and of our phenomenal MRC & NOLA Ready volunteer team that shows up every day to help us reach our vaccine goals.

To date, 29.9% of New Orleans have received at least their first dose of a COVID vaccine, in part thanks to the work of volunteers. You can see all our COVID data at ready.nola.gov/data

Signing Up For Shifts (refresher)

Shift visibility

Shifts are visible to volunteers who have completed all three trainings + the new NOLA Ready Orientation in the POD Training Curriculum.

If you have completed the orientation, VAC 100, HIP 100, and have uploaded the FEMA ICS certificate into your profile, and you are still not able to see shifts, please email volunteer@nola.gov and we can help problem solve.

Once you've already trained up, check our Opportunities Page to see volunteer shifts and sign up for them. We recommend bookmarking the page and checking back periodically as our volunteer team adds more shifts in

Opportunities page:

https://app.betterimpact.com/Volunteer/Schedule/Opportunities

We’ve found that the default settings are better on the Opportunities page (the link listed above) rather than on the Opportunities calendar, or on the app. So if you’re having difficulty seeing shifts, try using the link above.
