March 2021

Hello MRC members,

We've had an outpouring of support from volunteers to support COVID-19 vaccine distribution. In the past few weeks, more than 2,000 volunteers have joined our volunteer program. Due to this incredible influx of folks looking to help out, we've created the NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps Orientation, which will be an additional requirement moving forward for vaccine site volunteering. We apologize for adding another requirement, but with an influx of 2,000+ brand new volunteers to the program -- we had to!

Since MRC is part of the NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps, MRC members will also need to take this orientation as a qualification for signing up to volunteer at vaccine sites.

Here are a few quick updates about our vaccine distribution efforts. We continue to host City-run vaccine sites, moving around New Orleans to bring vaccines directly to neighborhoods. We're also continuing to staff the Convention Center's mass vaccination site, in partnership with LCMC. With your help, we are bringing vaccines to NOLA residents and expanding access in our communities. Together, we are working towards ending the global coronavirus pandemic, with a strong COVID response that starts here at home. Thank you for being part of this historic effort.

Lastly, shifts in Better Impact are now live for upcoming vaccine sites! Hope to see you onsite with us very soon.

Signing Up for Shifts

Shift visibility

Shifts are visible to volunteers who have completed all three trainings + the new NOLA Ready Orientation in the POD Training Curriculum.

  • If you have completed the orientation, VAC 100, HIP 100, and have uploaded the FEMA ICS certificate into your profile, and you are still not able to see shifts, please email volunteer@nola.gov and we can help problem solve.

Once you've already trained up, check our Opportunities Page to see volunteer shifts and sign up for them. We recommend bookmarking the page and checking back periodically as our volunteer team adds more shifts in

Opportunities page:

We’ve found that the default settings are better on the Opportunities page (the link listed above) rather than on the Opportunities calendar, or on the app. So if you’re having difficulty seeing shifts, try using the link above.
