Dear NOMRC Members,
We are preparing for Tropical Storm Gordon to make landfall some where between New Orleans and Mobile tomorrow evening as a category 1 hurricane. The Mayor has issued a emergency declaration and all schools and city facilities will be closed tomorrow.
NOMRC volunteers are needed to assist with a call center and we will be placing a small shelter team on standby for Tuesday night and Wednesday in case of power outages or localized flooding. If you are available to work any of the following shifts please email Sarah Babcock at sababcock@nola.gov.
Call Center - located at City Hall, volunteers will update people on the Special Needs Registry, check on the most vulnerable registrants, and coordinate services for registrants once the storm begins. Volunteers are are able to work shorter shifts, especially over prime new hours (8-10am, 11am-2pm, 4-8pm). Volunteers will be provided with meals and free parking at City Hall.

Medical Special Needs Shelter - location Morial Convention Center Hall J, volunteers will assist with general shelter and medical operations as needed, this team will be on standby and will not report until requested (decision will be made Tuesday morning). Volunteers are able to work a half shift if needed.

Low Barrier Shelter - volunteers will assist the low barrier shelter staff as needed due to increase in the number of homeless that the shetler will be taking in.
