March Newsletter

March 2018

Dear NOMRC Members,

Thank you to everyone who assisted with the Mardi Gras first aid stations.  This year, we assisted 600 individuals and provided hands on care to 111 patients, 37 of which were transported by EMS. This continues to be one of our largest events in partnership with New Orleans EMS and American Red Cross.

While it won't officially be spring for a few more weeks, we are already experiencing spring temperatures and rainfall.  Mosquito season isn't far away.  We will be launching another mosquito campaign including yard clean ups, tire removals, and education on Zika, Yellow Fever, and other mosquito-borne illnesses.  Below is more information about upcoming events.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that the NOMRC has received a $7,500 grant for NOMRC member to become instructors in CPR, Stop the Bleed, and naloxone use. Not only will all NOMRC members have the opportunity to take these classes, volunteers will also be able to teach the classes for other NOMRC and the community. We will send out more information later this month once we have a course schedule established.
