Construction for U.S. 127 and Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway intersection in Russell County to begin July 7

Somerset, Ky. (June 30, 2014) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to begin construction for the new U.S. 127 and Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway Interchange in Russell County is expected to begin on Monday, July 7.

During construction motorists can expect reduced speed limits along U.S. 127 between mile points 17.1 – 18.1 and the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway between mile points 61 – 63. Drivers are encouraged to pay close attention to signage throughout the work zone.

 

Temporary ramps will be built for entering and exiting traffic while construction of new ramps is being performed. Lane closures, lane restrictions as well as flaggers and construction personnel working in close proximity to traffic flow should also be expected. Appropriate caution is required. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Weddle Enterprises Inc. is the prime contractor on the $6,496,439 project. Work is expected to be completed by December 25. The starting date and duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time in reaching their destinations.
