Area residents invited to attend public meeting on improvements to KY 15 in Perry County

JACKSON, KY – Residents of Perry County are invited to attend a public informational meeting to discuss a project to improve a 1.24-mile segment of KY 15 north of Hazard.

The meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 14 from 5-7 p.m. at Perry County Central High School. It will be an “open house” format meeting with no formal presentation.

Representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and project consultants will be available to answer questions and provide information about the project. Handouts will be available describing the project’s purpose and need, the right-of-way acquisition process and potential utility relocation concerns.

A project is under consideration to widen KY 15 between the northern end of the Hazard bypass and the intersection with Morton Boulevard to a four-lane highway. The project would result in a safer route that would be designed to meet current and future traffic demands.

Persons with disabilities who wish to attend the meeting but have special accessibility needs that require assistance should contact the project manager, Aric Skaggs, at (606) 666-8841 to request special assistance.
