Closure necessary for cross drain replacement
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 8, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a temporary closure scheduled for U.S. 25 (Old Richmond Road) in Fayette County. The closure is necessary to allow crews to safely replace a cross drain.
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m., U.S. 25 (Old Richmond Road) will be closed between Walnut Hill Road and Delong Road (mile points 7.1 to 7.5). The roadway will reopen once the work is complete. Work is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, Oct. 14, weather permitting.
Motorists can use the following alternate routes:
- Northbound: KY 1973 (South Cleveland Road) to KY 418 (Athens Boonesboro Road)
- Southbound: KY 418 (Athens Boonesboro Road) to KY 1973 (South Cleveland Road)
Message boards will be in place at the northbound and southbound I-75 off-ramps, as well as near each end of the closure, to alert motorists of the closure and alternate routes.
Traffic, including local and emergency vehicles, will not be able to pass through the work zone during the closure.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
