Road closed for tree removal operations
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 28, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a temporary road closure scheduled for KY 1969 (Van Meter Road) in Fayette County for tree removal operations.
KY 1969 (Van Meter Road) will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. between the railroad crossing and Elkchester Road (mile points 1.8 – 2.6).
Motorists may access KY 1969 (Elkchester Road) from KY 1681 (Old Frankfort Pike) and KY 1969 (Rice Road) from U.S. 60 (Versailles Road).
Motorists should use extra caution and alternate routes during the closure.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
