TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Resurfacing Project Scheduled on KY 21 (Big Hill Road) in Madison County

Alternating lane closures planned on KY 21

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 19, 2026) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an upcoming resurfacing project on KY 21 (Big Hill Road) in Madison County.

Work is scheduled to begin Friday, Aug. 21, and resurfacing will take place from mile point 10.14 (near Silver Creek Drive) to mile point 13.8 (near Honeysuckle Court). Alternating lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during working hours. 

The project is expected to be completed by Nov.15, 2026, weather permitting. 

Motorists should use extra caution, reduce speed and watch for personnel and equipment in the work zone. 

All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
