Newtown Pike off ramp and lane closures from Aug. 7 through Aug. 11
LEXINGTON, Ky. (August 5, 2026) – Construction for the Newtown Pike widening project in Lexington will require a short-term closure of the off ramp from I-75 southbound/I-64 east to Newtown Pike beginning Friday, Aug. 7, at noon. The ramp is expected to remain closed until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, weather permitting.
The ramp closure is necessary to remove the existing concrete pavement and replace it with asphalt pavement. During the closure, motorists can detour using Paris Pike/Exit 113 to Lexington.
Additionally, the right lane of inbound Newtown Pike will close, and one lane on the I-75 northbound/I-64 west exit ramp to Newtown Pike will be closed for the duration of the work.
The ramp and lanes will reopen Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 7 a.m., schedule and weather permitting.
Friday, August 7
· At 12 p.m., the I-75 southbound ramp will be closed to Newtown Pike.
● Additionally, the right lane of inbound Newtown Pike will close, and one lane on the I-75 northbound (I-64 westbound) exit ramp to Newtown Pike will close.
● Motorists can detour using Exit 113 to Lexington.
● The ramp and lanes will reopen Tuesday, August 11 at 7 a.m., schedule and weather permitting.
● Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
This work is part of the Newtown Pike (KY 922) widening project. When complete in 2027, this project will add a lane in each direction on Newtown Pike (KY 922) from New Circle Road (KY 4) to I-75, improving safety and traffic flow by increasing capacity to handle current and future traffic volumes. All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
