Traffic to and from inner loop of New Circle and Leestown roads will be detoured
LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 23, 2026) – Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require temporary ramp closures on New Circle Road beginning Friday, July 24, through Monday, July 27. The closures are necessary to reconstruct portions of the ramps as part of the new Double Crossover Diamond interchange being built at New Circle and Leestown Roads.
Beginning Friday, July 24, at 10 p.m., contractors will close both ramps on the inner loop of New Circle Road (KY 4) at Leestown Road (US 421). This includes the inner loop off-ramp to Leestown Road and the on-ramp from Leestown Road to the inner loop of New Circle Road.
The detour for traffic on the inner loop of New Circle Road will be to exit at Georgetown Road, continue north on Georgetown Road, turn left onto Citation Boulevard, then turn left onto Leestown Road to re-enter the route.
Traffic on Leestown Road needing to access the inner loop of New Circle Road should continue on Leestown Road, turn right onto Citation Boulevard, turn right onto Georgetown Road, and then turn left onto New Circle Road.
Both ramps are expected to reopen by 5:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27.
