TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Mayde Road Extension Construction Begins in Madison County

Drivers may see increased construction truck traffic on nearby roads

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 30, 2026) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of construction work on the Mayde Road extension project beginning Monday, June 29, with preparations to install a new culvert. This project will include building a new road that will attach the existing Mayde Road with KY 1983 (Menelaus Road) at mile post 2.85.

There is no expected traffic impact for motorists outside of increased construction truck traffic on nearby roads until the end of the project when the intersection at KY 1983 is complete next year.

All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
