TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Overnight Road Closures Scheduled for Leestown Road Thursday, June 25
Expect delays on Leestown Road between 10 p.m. - 5 a.m.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 24, 2026) — Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening Project in Lexington will require temporary overnight road closures on Leestown Road (U.S. 421) beginning Thursday night, June 25, into Friday morning, June 26. The closures will allow for bridge work on New Circle over the Leestown Road bridge.
Beginning Thursday at 10 p.m., contractors will close Leestown Road in both directions under the KY 4 (New Circle Road) overpass. The closure will be between the two sets of ramps (mile markers 1.9-1.7). All roads will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday morning. Drivers can use New Circle Road (KY 4) to go to Georgetown Road (U.S. 25) or Old Frankfort Pike (KY 1681).
Thursday, June 25
- At 10 p.m., Leestown Road will close going northbound and southbound under the KY 4 (New Circle Road) overpass.
- The closure will be between the two sets of ramps (mile markers 1.9/1.7).
- Drivers can use New Circle Road (KY 4) to go to Georgetown Road (U.S. 25) or Old Frankfort Pike (KY 1681).
- All roads will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday morning.
- Delays are possible; please plan accordingly
Motorists are advised to use caution and watch for signage and personnel in work areas.
The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly growing area of Lexington.
