Motorists urged to use caution due to downed trees and utility lines
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 18, 2026) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of multiple roadway closures across District 7 due to severe weather that has resulted in downed trees and utility lines.
The following roadway impacts have been reported:
Anderson County
U.S. 127 Business at mile point 1.4 is closed due to a downed tree.
Jessamine County
KY 1267 at Cushingberry Lane is closed due to a downed tree on a phone line.
Woodford County
Midway Road is closed between Old Frankfort Pike and U.S. 60 due to multiple downed trees and utility poles.
Old Frankfort Pike is closed between Pisgah Pike and the Fayette County line due to a tree on utility lines.
Motorists should use extra caution while traveling and watch for roadway hazards, including downed trees, debris and power lines.
If you encounter a downed power line:
- Never touch or drive over a fallen power line. Report the issue to the power company.
- Do not drive through standing water if downed lines are in the water.
- Stay inside the vehicle if a line has fallen on your car. The ground may be energized. Sound the horn, call for help, then call 911.
- Assume all downed power lines are live and do not attempt to move one, even with non-conductive materials like wood or cloth.
District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
