TRAFFIC ADVISORY: KY 2054 (Algonquin Parkway) Improvement Project to begin this week

in Jefferson County

Roadway reconfigurations included in project

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 17, 2026) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a roadway reconfiguration and resurfacing project that will begin this week on KY 2054 (Algonquin Pkwy) between 40th Street and Winkler Avenue in Jefferson County.

KY 2054 (Algonquin Pkwy) between 40th Street (mile point 0.0) and Winkler Avenue (mile point 3.3) is currently four travel lanes. The reconfiguration project consists of converting the roadway to two travel lanes with the addition of a two-way left-turn lane (TWLTL).

Additional improvements include installing new signage & pavement markings, rebuilding traffic signals, and constructing concrete sidewalk ramps & median modifications.

More information about the roadway reconfiguration portion of the project is available online, including striping plans and intersection improvements.

Preliminary work will begin this week. Motorists should expect lane shifts daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m while median installation and traffic signal work are being completed. As the project progresses, motorists should expect resurfacing work to begin in mid to late July and be conducted during the overnight hours. Additional information regarding traffic impacts will be shared via the District 5 Roadshow Report.

E & B Paving Inc. is carrying out the work on this project under a $2.9 million contract. Motorists should obey work zone traffic restrictions, obey posted speed reductions, and plan ahead when traveling. The project is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2026.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has also coordinated this work with other Louisville-area projects to reduce traffic impacts as much as possible.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. For the latest traffic and travel updates across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, visit goky.ky.gov. Information specific to District 5 counties is also available on Facebook and X.
