Work is part of Newtown Pike Widening project in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 25, 2026) – Construction for the Newtown Pike (KY 922) Widening project in Lexington will require a temporary overnight closure of Newtown Circle on Tuesday, May 26. This closure will allow for drainage pipe installation.
Beginning Tuesday night at 11 p.m., contactors will close Newtown Circle in both directions at the Newtown Pike intersection. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

- At 11 p.m., Newtown Circle will close in both directions at the Newtown Pike intersection (mile marker 1.73).
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
- Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
This work is part of the Newtown Pike (KY 922) widening project. When complete in 2027, this project will add a lane in each direction on Newtown Pike (KY 922) from New Circle Road (KY 4) to I-75, improving safety and traffic flow by increasing capacity to handle current and future traffic volumes. All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
