COVINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 2, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a road closure in Gallatin County on a portion of U.S. 42 due to a crash. 

The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1. Crews have blocked U.S. 42 between Dorman Drive (7.68 mile point) and U.S. 127 (11.87 mile point), a distance of 4.19 miles. The road is expected to be closed for several hours as crews make repairs to utility poles, etc.

Motorists can detour using I-71 northbound to U.S. 127 to U.S. 42. 

Additional questions related to the crash investigation should be directed toward law enforcement handling the investigation. KYTC is providing this information as a courtesy to motorists.
