Overnight Double Lane Closure Scheduled for I-75 Southbound in Lexington Tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 6
Delays possible on I-75 SB 7 p.m. - 6 a.m.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 6, 202X) – Construction for the I-75 widening project in Lexington will require a temporary overnight double lane closure of I-75 southbound between MM 115 and MM 113, tonight, Tues., Jan. 6. The closure will allow contractors to install the support structure for a new overhead sign.
Beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, contractors will close the two right lanes of I-75 southbound between mile markers 115 and 113. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Weds. morning. 30-minute delays are expected from 7-10:30 p.m., with brief delays continuing until the lanes reopen. Drivers should seek alternate routes.
Law enforcement will be onsite to direct traffic.
Tues., Jan. 6
- Tonight at 7 p.m., the right two lanes of I-75 southbound will close between MM 115 and MM 113.
- All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Wednesday.
- Law enforcement officers will be present to direct traffic.
The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Newtown Pike (KY 922) exit to the Paris Pike (US 68) exit. All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
