TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Rolling Roadblocks on I-265 South (Gene Snyder Freeway) and Closure of Aiken Road on Tuesday, Jan. 6, in Louisville

Engineers to perform routine inspection and physical load test of bridge

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 5, 2026) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of rolling roadblocks on Interstate 265 South (Gene Snyder Freeway) and the closure of Aiken Road on Tuesday, Jan. 6, in Louisville.

Rolling roadblocks, part of moving operations, will occur on I-265 South near mile marker 28 (at the I-265 South bridge over Aiken Road) from 8 p.m. to midnight on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Motorists should heed rolling roadblock restrictions, maintain safe following distances and proceed with caution through the work zone.

Additionally, Aiken Road will be closed between Avoca Station Court and Avoca Road from 3 p.m. to midnight on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Motorists should obey all traffic control measures and seek an alternate route.

The nighttime rolling roadblocks on I-265 South and the temporary closure of Aiken Road are necessary for engineers to perform a routine inspection and physical load test of the I-265 South structure.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. For the latest traffic and travel updates across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, visit goky.ky.gov. Information specific to District 5 counties is also available on Facebook and X.
