Temporary Partial Closure of Nandino Boulevard Tuesday, Dec. 16

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 15, 2025) Construction for the Newtown Pike (KY 922) widening project in Lexington will require a temporary partial closure of Nandino Boulevard between Newtown Pike and Development Drive to allow for the excavation and installation of drainage pipes. Work will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 6 a.m. and will be completed by 6 p.m. that day, repeating on Wednesday, Dec. 17, if necessary.

Nandino Boulevard between Newtown Pike and Georgetown Road will remain open. Drivers needing to reach Development Drive from Newtown are advised to detour via Lexmark Centre Drive.

This work is part of the Newtown Pike (KY 922) widening project. When complete in 2027, this project will add a lane in each direction on Newtown Pike (KY 922) from New Circle Road (KY 4) to I-75, improving safety and traffic flow by increasing capacity to handle current and future traffic volumes.  It will also provide improvements to Legacy Trail. All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
