TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Updated Schedule for Blasting Operations on Friday, Dec. 5, as Part of I-264 Widening and Improvement Project in Louisville

Operations scheduled for approximately 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 4, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an updated blasting schedule for Friday, Dec. 5, as part of the $130 million widening and improvement project of I-264 and U.S. 42 (Brownsboro Road) in Louisville.

Blasting operations are anticipated to occur at approximately 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.  Intermittent roadblocks are required during blasting operations, and delays are possible. Motorists should use caution, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time during the scheduled roadblocks.

Contract crews are continuing to conduct daily blasting operations at approximately 2 p.m. The temporary time change on Friday, Dec. 5, will not affect the ongoing schedule — blasting will resume at 2 p.m. daily thereafter.

The highway improvement project is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2027.  More details, including project timelines and traffic impacts, will be shared online as work progresses. Motorists are encouraged to sign up for email alerts regarding weekly traffic impacts pertaining to the project.
