Temporary Lane and Ramp Closure Scheduled for New Circle Road (KY 4) in Lexington Sunday, Nov. 2 – Monday, Nov. 3
Expect delays on New Circle Road westbound between
7 a.m. Sunday – 7 a.m. Monday
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 31, 2025) – Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require a temporary lane and ramp closure on New Circle Road eastbound (inner loop) on Sunday, Nov. 2. The closures are necessary to get traffic ready to switch to phase 3 of the bridge carrying New Circle over Leestown Road (US 421).
Beginning 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, contractors will close the left lane of New Circle Road from just before Leestown Road to just past the railroad bridge, between mile markers 6.8-8.2. All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Monday morning.
In addition, Sunday night at 10 p.m., the Leestown Road ramp onto New Circle Road (KY 4) (New Circle inner loop) will close. The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday morning.
Between midnight and 7 a.m., traffic on the New Circle Road eastbound (inner loop) will move to travel on the newly completed middle lane. Caution is urged as drivers acclimate to the new traffic pattern.
Sunday, Nov. 2 – Monday, Nov. 3
- At 7 a.m., the left lane of New Circle Road (KY 4) eastbound will close from just before Leestown Road to just past the railroad bridge (mile markers 6.8-8.2).
- All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Monday.
- At 10 p.m., the Leestown Road ramp to New Circle Road eastbound (New Circle inner loop) will also close.
- The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
- Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
- Between midnight and 7 a.m. Monday, traffic on the New Circle Road inner loop will move from the left lane to the new middle lane. Please use caution as drivers learn the new traffic pattern.
The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Road interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington.
