TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Daily and Nightly Lane Closures on U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) Beginning Monday, Nov. 3, in Louisville
Contract crews to perform striping and intersection marking improvements
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 31, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of daily and nightly lane closures on U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) beginning Monday, Nov. 3, in Louisville.
Lane closures will occur daily (from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and nightly (from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) on U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) from KY 155 (Taylorsville Road) to Bonnycastle Avenue beginning Monday, Nov. 3. Additionally, daily and nightly on-street parking restrictions are possible along the corridor. The lane closures and parking restrictions are necessary for contract crews to perform striping and intersection marking improvements along the corridor. Work is expected to continue through December of this year.
Improvements include removing existing pavement markings through water blasting and installing new thermoplastic striping. The thermoplastic material provides long-lasting, reflective markings that enhance visibility in wet weather and nighttime conditions. Additional upgrades include defined on-street parking spaces and improved lane configurations to enhance turning movements and overall traffic flow. Details on the striping plans can be found online.
Motorists should use caution and heed signage when traveling through the work zone.
The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. For the latest traffic and travel updates across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, visit goky.ky.gov. Information specific to District 5 counties is also available on Facebook and X.
