Bridge Work to Begin October 20 on U.S. 119 at Scott’s Fork in Pike County

Northbound Lane Closure with Detour in Place

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (October 13, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 12 office advises motorists of upcoming bridge repair work on U.S. 119 at Scott’s Fork in Pike County, scheduled to begin Monday, October 20.

Crews will begin work on the northbound side of the bridge (traveling from Pikeville toward South Williamson). During this phase, U.S. 119 northbound will be closed between the Phelps/Bent Branch Exit and the Meta Exit. Only one direction of U.S. 119 will be closed at a time to minimize disruption.

Detour Information:

Motorists traveling northbound will follow a signed detour using KY 194 to KY 1426, adding approximately four miles and about five minutes to daily commutes.

Project Timeline:

  • Start Date: Monday, October 20
  • Duration: Estimated one month per bridge
  • Due to weather, scheduling, and material availability, crews anticipate completing one bridge before the holidays.
  • Work will pause for winter and resume in early spring (around March 2026) to complete the second bridge.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead, expect delays, and use caution when traveling near the work zone. Message boards and signage will be posted in advance to alert drivers of changing traffic patterns.
