Traffic pattern changes for

Richmond, Madison County

5Ks and Festivals in Downtown Richmond

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of traffic changes scheduled for Richmond, Madison County. Temporary adjustments will be necessary for the weekend events happening in downtown Richmond on October 3rd and 4th. The Richmond Police Department and Eastern Kentucky University Police will be assisting with traffic.

Friday, Oct. 3Baptist Health’s Neon 5K

Note: the sections below will be closed from 7:30 p.m. until approximately 9:00 p.m.

  • Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 from Water Street (a city route) to Crabbe Street (a city route)
  • Crabbe Street from Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 to University Drive (a city route)
  • University Drive from the Daniel Boone Statue to Summit Street (a city route)
  • Summit Street from University Drive to South Madison Avenue (a city route)
  • South Madison Avenue from Summit Street to Water Street
  • Water Street from South Madison Avenue to Lancaster Avenue/KY 52

*Water Street from South Third Street to South Madison Avenue will be closed from 5:00 p.m. until approximately 10:00 p.m.*

Saturday, Oct. 4Richmond’s Millstone Festival

Note: the sections below will be closed from 6:00 a.m. until approximately 10:00 p.m.

  • Main Street/US 25X (MP 1.510) from Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 (MP 1.780) to North Collins Street (a city route)
  • Third Street (a city route) from West Irvine Street (a city route) to Water Street (a city route)
  • Second Street (a city route) from West Irvine Street to Water Street
  • First Street (a city route) from West Irvine Street to Water Street
  • Madison Avenue (a city route) from West Irvine Street to Water Street
  • West Irvine Street from North Second Street to North First Street

Motorists should expect and plan for delays --- heavy traffic is expected.

All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes:  Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
