Why Attend a Local Aviation Event?
Attending local aviation events is a great way to support Kentucky’s airports, connect with the aviation community, and inspire future generations of aviators. These events showcase the role aviation plays in our economy and daily lives while offering opportunities to learn, network, and celebrate the excitement of flight.
The Kentucky Department of Aviation, in collaboration with airports, planning organizations, and industry stakeholders, is actively conducting meetings to shape the 2025 Statewide Aviation System Plan (SASP). These sessions focus on assessing current infrastructure, identifying future needs, and ensuring Kentucky's aviation network continues to support growth, safety, and innovation across the Commonwealth.
You can find the 2025 Statewide Aviation Plan on the KDA homepage.

 WINGS - Pilot Proficiency Program
The objective of the WINGS Program is to address the primary accident causal factors that continue to plague the general aviation community. By focusing on this objective, we hope to reduce the number of accidents we see each year for the same causes. As you will see, it is not a simple “Award” program but is instead a true proficiency program, designed to help improve our skills and knowledge as pilots.
