Update - Project continues for Mt. Sterling in Montgomery County
Sidewalk reconstruction
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 19, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that this news release serves as an update for a scheduled improvement project in Mt. Sterling. The work includes sidewalk reconstruction. Motorists can pass through the work zone. The anticipated completion date for the entire project is Friday, December 19, 2025.
Friday, Sept. 19 through Friday, Dec. 19 – 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. weekday work
Main Street/North Maysville Street intersection and Court Street (CS)
Monday, Sept. 22
- Phase 2 of the project will begin - this phase includes the removal and reconstruction of the sidewalk on the south side of Main Street between Bank Street and Wilson Street
Maintenance of Traffic
- two 10' lanes will be shifted to the north side of Main Street (these lanes were previously on the south side of Main Street for Phase 1)
- parking on the south side will be closed during the entire duration of Phase 2
- parking on the north side will be reopened
- traffic will be maintained through the work zone at the signalized intersections for North Maysville and Bank Streets
- the left turn lane at the Main Street/Maysville Street eastbound approach will remain closed
- the right turn lane at the Main Street/Maysville Street westbound approach will remain closed
- the left turn lane at the Main Street/Bank Street eastbound approach will remain closed
- signal heads will be shifted to align with the new lanes
Locations:
Main Street – between milepoints 5.05 and 5.22
North Maysville Street – between milepoints 9.48 and 9.56
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
