Section of New US 460 Closed for Paving Work in Pike County

Work starts this week

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 18, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists that a segment of the new US 460 corridor, between the Virginia line and Beaver, will be closed beginning this week for milling and paving work.

Starting Tuesday, September 16, crews began milling and paving the ramps and connections to portions of the roadway. The closure will be in place weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until work is complete.

During this closure, emergency vehicles and school buses will be accommodated. Traffic will be detoured at Wolfpen Road, just past the Virginia state line.

The work is expected to take approximately one week, but schedules are subject to change depending on weather or site conditions. Updates will be provided if the closure extends beyond this timeframe.

Once this phase is complete, the next round of closures will occur on the Marrowbone side of the project, where crews will begin milling and paving the connections to the Marrowbone bridge and ramp. That portion of work is anticipated to take longer than one week.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, follow detour signage, and allow extra time when traveling through the area.
