LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 16, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that this advisory serves as an update. Work continues for the Interstate 75 rehabilitation project in Madison County.
This week:
- Operations continue for the northern section of the project (milepoints 92 – 98)
- Northbound traffic has been diverted to the fast and middle lanes
- Southbound traffic remains in the slow and middle lanes
- Southbound – slope corrections between milepoint 97 and the Clays Ferry Bridge are scheduled to be completed tonight, along with fast lane paving
- Southbound traffic is scheduled to be shifted on Wednesday night to the fast and middle lanes
- Traffic will remain in the fast and middle lanes until milling and repaving have been completed for the mainline and ramps (along with rock shoulders and rumble strips along the outside edge)
Southbound On Ramp Exit 97 Temporary Closure:
The On Ramp will be temporarily closed:
- between the hours of 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 18) and Friday (Sept. 19) to complete a slide repair
The $13.5 million I-75 improvement project includes milling and repaving all six lanes between Mile Marker 86 and the Clays Ferry bridge, making slide repairs, enhancing exit ramp pavement to improve safety, adding barrier walls at bridges, restriping driving lanes, replacing pavement markers, and adding radar traffic detection at interchange signals to improve traffic flow.
We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to deliver a smoother and safer interstate commute as quickly as possible.
While traveling through any work zone, we encourage drivers to slow down, stay alert, and keep their distance, as road conditions can change, and to give themselves more time to travel.
All work and/or closures are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
