Overnight Road Closures Scheduled for

New Circle Road (KY 4) Tuesday, August 26

Expect delays on New Circle Road between 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (August 22, 2025)  Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require temporary overnight road closures on New Circle Road on Tuesday, August 26. The closures will allow for beam setting for phase two of the project’s three phases.

Beginning August 26, at 10 p.m., contractors will close New Circle Road westbound before the Leestown Road exit to the Leestown Road exit, between mile markers 7.7 - 7.1. All roads will reopen by 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, August 27. Traffic will be diverted from the New Circle outer loop onto Leestown Road. From Leestown Road, they can continue straight to get back onto the New Circle outer loop.

Tuesday, August 26

  • At 10 p.m., New Circle Road will close going westbound from before the Leestown Road exit, to the Leestown Road exit (MM 7.7 - 7.1).
  • Drivers will be diverted from the New Circle outer loop onto Leestown Road. From Leestown Road, they can continue straight to get back onto the New Circle outer loop.
  • All roads will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.

The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington. All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways. 

District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
