*** Work is scheduled to last until early August, not "three days" as was written in the original release.
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (July 15, 2025) – A paving project that will resurface almost four miles of KY 54 between Owensboro and Philpot is scheduled to resume tomorrow, Wednesday, July 16. Crews were working in this location in early June, sealing cracks and preparing the road for paving.
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be applying a new layer of asphalt along the highway from Bold Forbes Way (3.8 mm) in Owensboro, to KY 142 (7.5 mm) in Philpot.
On Wednesday, crews will blocking lanes as they remove highway reflectors from the roadway, with milling operations scheduled to start on Thursday. Crews will begin paving the four lane section of KY 54 near Bold Forbes Way on Sunday evening, then move to the two lane section as work progresses.
Motorists should anticipate lane closures during this project, which is slated to be completed by early August. When paving progresses passed KY 1456/Thurston Durmont Road (4.5 mm) to the two lane section of highway, alternating traffic flow controlled by flaggers will be necessary.
