Contract crews to set KY 53 bridge beams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 14, 2025) As part of the $118 million widening and improvement project of Interstate 64 in Shelby County, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of nightly closures of I-64 beginning Tuesday, July 15.

I-64 West will be closed from 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, through 1 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at mile point 35.4. Motorists will be diverted via flagging measures to take Exit 35 to reconnect with I-64 West.

I-64 East will be closed from 7 p.m. Thursday, July 17, through 1 a.m. Friday, July 18, at mile point 34.9. Motorists will be diverted via flagging measures to take Exit 35 to reconnect with I-64 East.

The nightly closures of the interstate are necessary for contract crews to set bridge beams for the KY 53 bridge over I-64 as part of the bridge replacement work. Drivers should heed signage, use caution, and expect delays when traveling through the work zone.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
