Ralph Avenue in Owensboro Blocked for up to 30 Days
Work is part of the ongoing KY 54 Widening Project
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (July 7, 2025) – As part of the ongoing KY 54 widening project in Owensboro, a contractor working for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet began a month-long closure of the entrance to Ralph Avenue (3.65 mm) this morning.
The closure is expected to last up to 30 days as work is conducted on this intersection with KY 54. Motorists can still access this area using Commonwealth Court and Woodland Plaza Drive.
KYTC is in the midst of a highway widening project along this corridor in Owensboro. KY 54 is one of the busiest stretches of roadway in Daviess County, with around 32,000 cars passing between Heartland Crossing Boulevard, just west of US 60, and Bold Forbes Way in the east every day. In order to accommodate existing traffic, and to allow for continued development in the area, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is the process of widening the roadway to three-lanes in each direction with a concrete median for added safety.
