Week-long closure of KY 1209 in Estill County scheduled for July 28-Aug. 3
JACKSON, Ky. – Drivers who use KY 1209 (Wagersville Road) near Alumbaugh in southern Estill County should be prepared for a week-long closure beginning Monday, July 28.
The road will be closed at milepoint 5.014 for replacement of a drainage structure at Searcy Branch. This is approximately three miles south of KY 89. The road will be closed 24 hours a day from July 28 until Sunday, Aug 3.
No signed detour will be posted. A lengthy detour using state routes (KY 587, US 421, and KY 89 through Jackson County; or KY 587, KY 11, KY 52, and KY 89 through Lee County) will be required while the road is closed. A county route (Jake's Heavenly Highway) is also available as an alternate route.
Approximately 220 vehicles use this section of KY 1209 each day.
