Work Starts on $1.8 Million KY 57 Bridge in Lewis County

New bridge to provide safer, longer-lasting highway connection

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (July 2, 2025)  Work starts next week on a $1.8 million project to replace the aging KY 57 bridge across Sycamore Creek near Concord in Lewis County. The new bridge will provide a safer, longer-lasting highway connection for Kentuckians who rely on the highway.

Contractors will build the new bridge at the same location as the old bridge.  In order to keep traffic flowing during construction, traffic changes will be required:

  • As of Monday, July 7,  KY 57 is restricted to one lane across the bridge (milepoint 15.54), with all traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals.
  • Traffic will alternate one direction at a time across the bridge. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place in the open lane. Motorists should expect delays.
  • The traveling public should watch for workers and equipment entering and leaving traffic and may expect short delays.

The bridge replacement project is expected to take until November 2025 to complete.

Work is being done by Frederick & May Construction Co under a $1,821,820 Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contract.
