Lane Restriction Today, July 1, Along Interstate 24 Westbound Between Mile Markers 7 and 4

IDOT contractor working to replace rumble strips

PADUCAH, Ky. (July 1, 2025) A contractor for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is replacing rumble strips along Interstate 24 westbound today, July 1, between mile markers 7 and 4.

A lane restriction will be in effect, as crews alternate between the left and right lanes to facilitate the work.

Motorists should be alert for signage and trucks with arrow boards guiding traffic into the open lane in the work zone.

As a reminder, there is a reduced speed limit of 55 mph in the work zone between Exit 7 and the bridge.

Lane restrictions will continue in both directions on the I-24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis until October 14, 2025.

Please slow down, maintain safe following distances, avoid distractions, and take turns at the merge point.

There will be two more construction cycles in 2026 and 2027.

The I-24 Ohio River Bridge Rehab Project, led by IDOT, is expected to be completed in September 2027.
