Bridge to be closed during construction; signed detour in place
COVINGTON, Ky. (June 12, 2025) – A bridge replacement project on KY 491 in Grant County is scheduled to begin Monday, June 23.
The project involves removing the existing bridge deck and beams over Bullock Pen Creek (mile point 0.02) located between Rainbow Drive and KY 1942, then setting new beams and constructing a new deck. The updated structure will improve safety and reliability for motorists in the area.
To accommodate the work, the bridge will be closed to traffic during construction beginning Monday, June 23. A signed detour will be in place to guide motorists around the closure.
The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic on Monday, Aug. 11. Additional work will continue throughout the project area following the reopening until all project tasks are complete.
Motorists are encouraged to follow posted signage and use caution in the area. Message boards will be placed near the work zone to advise motorists of the upcoming work.
Hinkle Construction Services LLC is contracted to perform the $726,790 project on behalf of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 30, 2025.
