Longterm Lane Closures Scheduled for

Leestown Road Beginning Monday, June 9

Expect delays on Leestown Road

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 6, 2025) Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require an ongoing lane closure on Leestown Road beginning before Greendale Road through to New Circle Road. The closures will allow for pipe work and excavation.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, weather permitting, the right lane of Leestown Road will be closed southbound (coming toward Lexington) beginning before Greendale Road through to New Circle Road. The left lane will remain open. This closure will likely be in effect for a few weeks. Weather delays may impact when this will reopen.

Beginning Monday, June 9

  • The right lane of Leestown Road will be closed southbound beginning before Greendale Road through to New Circle Road.
  • Delays are likely. Please drive carefully.
  • These lanes are expected to reopen in a few weeks, once the necessary work is completed.

The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington. Find more information online at DrivingLexingtonProgress.org.

All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
