Lane Closure Scheduled for

New Circle Road Friday, May 23

Expect delays on New Circle Road between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 22, 2025)  Construction for the New Circle Rd. (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require a temporary lane closure on New Circle Road on Friday, May 23. The closure will allow the contractors to correct pavement conditions in the area.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, contractors will close the right lane of the New Circle Inner Loop beginning at the Leestown Road bridge and ending at the railroad bridge over Norfolk Southern, before Georgetown Road. All lanes will reopen by 3 p.m.

Friday, May 23

  • At 9 a.m., the right lane of the New Circle Road Inner Loop will close between the Leestown Road bridge and the railroad bridge before Georgetown Road.
  • Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
  • All lanes will reopen by 3 p.m.

The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington. All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
