Transportation Cabinet Seeking Public Feedback for U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) Improvements
Online survey available now through June 13
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 20, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is seeking public feedback for an upcoming highway safety improvement project on U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) between Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and Hillock Drive in Jefferson County.
The project's purpose is to enhance safety and improve traffic flow along the corridor. As development continues, traffic demands on U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) are expected to increase. The proposed improvements include:
- Construction of a right turn lane at Ichabod Drive.
- Installation of a raised median from Major Lane to Hillock Drive.
- Addition of a right turn only lane at Hillock Drive.
- Construction of a left turn/U-turn at the U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road)/Brentlinger Lane intersection.
- Addition of a right turn lane at Bartley Drive.
- Construction of a right turn free flow lane from the I-265 East off-ramp (Exit 17) to U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road).
Public feedback on the proposed improvements is being accepted through June 13, 2025. Citizens are encouraged to share their input by completing the online survey. Additional information, including proposed improvement designs and the project timeline, can be found online at www.US31E.com.
Input received from the survey efforts will be compiled and considered as the final design phase is underway. All responses will become part of the official meeting record. Once compiled, all supporting documentation will be made available for review and copying only after an Open Records Request has been received and approved. All Open Records Requests must be submitted to the Transportation Cabinet, Office of Legal Services, Transportation Office Building, 200 Metro St, Frankfort, KY 40622, or via kytc.openrecords@ky.gov.
