Update – Rescheduled closure for
Wilderness Road/KY 34 in Boyle County
Milling and resurfacing operations
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 19, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that this news release serves as an update. The closure for a section of Wilderness Road/KY 34 has been rescheduled. The temporary closure is necessary for milling and asphalt resurfacing operations. The work will be performed by the Allen Company Inc.
The rescheduled dates and times are below:
Tuesday, May 20 – 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Wednesday, May 21 – 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Wilderness Road/KY 34
- a closure will be in effect between milepoints 13.629 and 13.891
- milling and asphalt resurfacing will be both in the North and Southbound directions
- emergency vehicles will be permitted through the work zone
- residents that live along the route will be able to access their homes --- they should expect delays when entering and exiting
- motorists are advised to utilize an alternate route

- Third Street
- Lexington Avenue
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott, and Woodford Counties.
