I-69 Rehab Project Continues in Hopkins County
Ramp from U.S. 41 to I-69 southbound to be closed on Saturday
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (May 16, 2025) – An interstate rehab project along a portion of I-69 in Hopkins County continues this week with the planned temporary closure of the southbound onramp from U.S. 41 on Saturday, May 17. The closure was scheduled earlier this month but was delayed due to weather.
Crews plan to block the ramp early at around 6 a.m. Saturday morning to make repairs to a base failure that frequently causes potholes. The closure is expected to last until around 3 p.m.
The temporary southbound closure will begin at the 19.2 mile point of U.S. 41, where the ramp begins near Christ the King Catholic Church. Right hand turns from the U.S. 41/ North Main Street crossover to the ramp will also be blocked.
Motorists needing to detour around the closure should remain on U.S. 41/ North Main until they reach the intersection of U.S. 41, U.S. 41A and KY 281. Make a left onto KY 281/ Island Ford Road at the light and take the southbound onramp to I-69 0.6 miles ahead.
Lane restrictions continue along the southbound portion of the project where work is still ongoing, although lane restrictions in the northbound lanes have temporarily been lifted. Due to workers being present in and around the median, a 55 MPH speed limit is still in effect in both the north and southbound lanes.
The work is part of the ongoing $10 million interstate rehabilitation project along a 4.34-mile section of I-69 in Madisonville. The work zone stretches from KY 70 (114.24 mile point) to the KY 2657/Fowler Road overpass (118.15 mp).
