KY 1184 in Powell County to be closed beginning Tuesday, May 27, for bridge replacement project
Closure expected to last through late September
JACKSON, Ky. – Beginning Tuesday, May 27, KY 1184 (Little North Bend Road) near Rosslyn in Powell County will be closed for replacement of a bridge crossing the Red River.
The bridge is located at milepoint 0.2, approximately 0.2 miles northeast of KY 11/KY 15.
A signed detour will be posted using KY 615, KY 599, KY 613, and KY 11/KY 15 through Bowen.
The new bridge is scheduled to be completed by late September. Until then, drivers will need to use the detour route.
The existing bridge is rated in poor condition. It has a posted weight limit of between 32 and 44 tons, depending on the vehicle type. It was built in 1970. Fewer than 615 vehicles use this bridge each day.
