Overnight Lane Closure Scheduled on

I-75/I-64 Sunday, May 11

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 9, 2025) Construction for the I-75 widening project in Lexington will require a temporary overnight closure on Sunday, May 11. This closure will allow contractors to shift the existing 3 lanes of traffic closer to the median wall so work can begin on the outside shoulder, sound walls and shoulder barrier walls.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, contractors will close one lane of I-75 North/I-64 West between the I-64/I-75 Southern Split and Paris Pike (Exit 113). At 7:30 p.m., a second lane will close in the same area. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.

Additionally, at 8 p.m., the ramp from Paris Pike (Exit 113) to I-64 West/I-75 North will close. This ramp will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.

Finally, at 10 p.m., the I-64 West ramp to I-75 North will close. The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic traveling on I-64 West will detour onto I-75 South, exit at Winchester Road (Exit 110), and re-enter I-75 North.

Sunday, May 11, weather permitting:

  • At 7 p.m., one lane of I-64 West/I-75 North will close between the I-64/I-75 Southern Split and Paris Pike (Exit 113).
  • At 7:30 p.m., a second lane will close between the I-64/I-75 Southern Split and Paris Pike (Exit 113). These two lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.
  • At 8 p.m., the ramp from Paris Pike (Exit 113) to I-64 West/I-75 North will close. This ramp will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.
  • At 10 p.m., the I-64 West ramp to I-75 North will close. The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
  • To detour for the I-64 West ramp closure, traffic will merge onto I-75 South, exit at Winchester Road (Exit 110), and re-enter I-75 North.
  • Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.

The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Paris Pike exit to the I-64/I-75 Southern Split. It is the second of two projects to widen I-64/I-75 to four lanes each direction in Fayette County. Find more information online at DrivingLexingtonProgress.org.

All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
