Moving, Work Zone Lane Restriction Planned Today on U.S. 45/28th Street/Joe Clifton Drive in Paducah

Crews to perform storm drain maintenance

PADUCAH, Ky. (May 2, 2025) A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will implement a moving, work zone lane restriction along U.S. 45/28th Street/Joe Clifton Drive in Paducah today, Friday, May 2, to allow for storm drain maintenance.

The work zone will be in short segments, primarily at intersections between Broadway and Clay Street, to clear debris from storm drain drop boxes at the following locations:

  • Broadway & 28th Street (Northeast/Southeast corners)
  • Harrison Street & Joe Clifton Drive (Northeast/Southwest corners)
  • Madison Street & Joe Clifton Drive (at the Carson Park entrance)
  • Clay Street & Joe Clifton Drive

At most locations, a crash truck with an arrow board will shift traffic to the center turn lane so a vac truck can access curbside drop boxes. Due to the intersection turn lanes at Broadway, the vac truck will have to work in the roadway, blocking an entire lane. Crews will work along the right-of-way where possible.

Work is scheduled to begin around 8 a.m. and may continue until approximately 3 p.m., depending on the volume of debris in the drop boxes.

Motorists should use caution when workers and equipment are near traffic flow. Some delays are possible as crews reposition equipment throughout the day.
